3 bucks.

well, i have officially cancelled our mass mailing christmas card. i hate to do that cuz i love to do the card, but it just ain't in the works. hopefully will get something out in the form of an e-greeting. so now i have 100 christmas-y stamps, that i had a slight sinking feeling deep deep down when i bought them, would not darken the door of a mailbox this year. oh well. we have been enjoying lots of good cards and pictures and letters from others! we're thankful for that!

this is the year of the three dollar christmas tree, yes folks, you heard right- we got our tree yesterday, the 21st day of december and it was among the last 15 of the 900 or so trees that lowes brought in in the last month. and it was practically free. sometimes the late bird gets...a deal, i guess. ro baby was particularly enthralled/entransed sp??? with this whole business, decorating and the lights and such. so sweet.

today the two olders and i read the 12 voices of christmas which was a marvelous delight, new to us, and then they were SO eager to act it all out, and linc appointed himself director, and did a dandy job. junebug found many props and we had a great time.

i am wishing for just a few more hours in the post-bedtime evening. ahh, moments are precious when they are awake, and when they are asleep. i'm off to try the old family carmel-making recipe...

hoping wherever you are--it's a good night before the night before the night before.

waiting

this is one of my favorite pics that suggests, of course, waiting. and also crazy cozy sox and a silly cozy box.

i know there's a marvelous dr. seuss poem out there somewhere, from the places-you'll-go book, that encapsulates the magnitude of time spent waiting.

but here lately...
we've been waiting for the snow to fall,
waiting to reluctantly go to the mall,
waiting for a moment to write
which inevitably happens late at nite
when brain cells are a rare commodity
which, i'm sure, is easy to see

and waiting of course for christmas.

lately i have come across tons of inspiring encouragement for celebrating more simply...will share that soon on my other blog.

for now, just wanted to share this super shadowy pic from a walk we took thanksgiving weekend with some of our relatives from the north.
